Audrain County man faces plethora of charges, including stealing from church

An Audrain County man was arrested and charged in relation to several cases on Sunday.

Wyatt James Bradley, 18, of Rush Hill, was charged in one case with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and stealing more than $750.

In another case, he was charged with second-degree burglary and stealing more than $750. In a third cause, Bradley was charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and stealing a vehicle. In a fourth case, he was charged with second-degree burglary, stealing more than $750, institutional vandalism and misdemeanor stealing for allegedly stealing from a church.

He was released from the Audrain County Jail on Monday under his own recognizance.

According to a press release from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement received multiple reports of thefts and burglaries during the past month in the Rush Hill and Laddonia areas. The probable cause statements indicate that the majority allegedly took place between Oct. 21-24.

Deputies executed a search warrant at Bradley’s residence on Saturday and found several items reported stolen.

In one case, a theft was reported at Rush Hill Community Church on Oct. 5. Deputies found a door with pry marks on the trim, as well as broken glass in the building, according to the probable cause statement. Several doors in the building were open.

There were several items stolen from the church, according to the statement, including three televisions valued at a combined total of $1,400, $60 worth of soda and candy, three portable speakers, multiple keys for the church and church van and $20. Surveillance footage allegedly showed three people entering the church the night of Oct. 3 into the morning of Oct. 4.

One victim had stated they parked their semi-truck on a property near the church, and that had been burgarlized, as well, according to the statement.  A GPS, Halloween candy and several Christmas-related items that were stored in the truck, according to the statement.

One minor was arrested in relation to the theft on Oct. 24 and admitted his involvement, as well as saying Bradley and another under-aged individual were involved, according to the statement.

In a case from Oct. 24, Bradley allegedly stole a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix from an Audrain County residence. The vehicle was found near the intersection of Pine Street and Route KK. An under-aged defendant was allegedly seen running from the area before getting arrested. That person allegedly told law enforcement that Bradley was the person who initially took the vehicle, the statement says.
