Jury trial dates were scheduled on Thursday for a Columbia man accused of murder.

Corey Blueitt, 44, was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and third-degree assault. He is accused of shooting and killing Aaron Badolato, 34, in December 2022 in the 2000 block of Newtown Drive in north Columbia. Blueitt is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. He was indicted by a grand jury on Dec. 16.

A jury trial is scheduled to begin 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at the Boone County Courthouse. A pretrial conference is set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Badolato died at the hospital and Blueitt was found by police in the 1300 block of English Drive.

According to previous reporting and court documents, multiple witnesses allegedly saw Blueitt holding a gun and pointed it at multiple people. At least one witness allegedly saw Blueitt shoot Badolato.

One of the witnesses said Blueitt was her ex-boyfriend, according to a probable cause statement and previous reporting. The woman said she was walking out of her apartment when Blueitt was getting back into his vehicle and told her he shot Badoloto, the statement says. The woman said Blueitt was going to come back and kill one of the other witnesses and threatened to "blow up the whole block," according to the statement.

The woman allegedly told police that she heard someone screaming "help," and "you shot him" from one of the witnesses.
