COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man who was charged with drug trafficking and other felonies was booked into the Boone County Jail on Tuesday night.

Devin Weakley, 22, of Columbia was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, three counts of stealing a gun and four counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail. An arraignment was held Wednesday and Weakley appeared by video from the jail.

A bond hearing is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9. Weakley also has a warrant in Scott County for failure to appear.

The probable cause statement says two people were found dead in the 2800 block of Blackfoot Road on Oct. 13 from a suspected overdose. White powder was found and tested positive for fentanyl, according to the statement. The statement says multiple witnesses allegedly pointed out a trailer where the drugs were sold and one person allegedly told law enforcement he gave money to the pair in order to buy drugs.

Court documents state that Weakley was seen walking up to the trailer by law enforcement from an area that had multiple trailers and a wood line.

Police executed a search warrant on the trailer and allegedly found fentanyl and documents that included Weakley’s name. Witnesses then told police they saw a man throw a blue backpack into the woods before police arrived, the statement says.

The backpack was eventually found in the area Weakley was seen walking from earlier, according to the statement. Police say they found a baggie containing fentanyl, four handguns (three reported stolen), ammunition and a wallet containing Weakley’s ID, according to the statement.
