Nebraska runaways found in stolen car in Mexico, Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mexico police found two runaway teens from Nebraska during a traffic stop Saturday morning, according to a news release.

Officers received information Saturday morning that a runaway from Nebraska was in Mexico and stopped a vehicle with four people inside in the 500 block of West Jackson Street. A 16-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl, both from Nebraska, were in the car along with a 17-year-old boy from Mexico and an 18-year-old man from Marceline, Missouri, police say.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Nebraska and the teens were reported as runaways, according to the release. The group had also been in what police called a "disturbance" in the 4800 block of South Clark Street earlier that day, police say.

Juvenile authorities took custody of the runaways, police say.
