A Mexico, Missouri, teenager has been charged after allegedly leading Callaway County deputies on a high-speed chase on Saturday and crashing his mom’s car.

Blake Lewis Mason, 18, was charged this weekend with resisting arrest by fleeing and driving while intoxicated – having a person younger than 17 years old in a vehicle.

According to one of the probable cause statements filed, a deputy was traveling southbound on Old Highway 54 near Highway 2002 while following a Honda Accord that was going 108 miles per hour. The deputy turned on his lights, but the Honda continued to speed more than 110 mph in a 55 mph zone, the statement says.

The chase went through Auxvasse and Mason allegedly passed several vehicles near North Main Street. The Honda crashed when Mason tried to negotiate a turn onto Highway 176 from Old Highway 54, according to the statement. The vehicle rolled over.

There were three teenaged passengers – two 17-year-old girls and a 16-year-old boy. None of the three knew why Mason tried to run from law enforcement and at least two allegedly told him to stop, according to both probable cause statements. One of the teenagers stated they had back pain after the accident.

Mason was given a breath test by a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper and blew a .103, the statement says. Both law enforcement agencies could smell alcohol while in his presence, the statements say. The trooper also stated Mason’s eyes were bloodshot and his eyes were watery.

The trooper – while bringing Mason to the jail – allegedly asked him if the events of the night would have been different alcohol was not included and Mason allegedly said, “Probably,” the statement says.
