COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was charged Friday with three felonies and two misdemeanors after his arrest at Columbia Regional Airport.

Police say Billy Joe Breuklander, 42, got access to a restricted area a little after midnight Friday and tried to steal a police vehicle. Breuklander was seen on surveillance video going through a restricted baggage room door, according to a probable cause statement.

An officer then found Brueklander trying to steal a police off-road utility vehicle parked at the airport, the statement says. The vehicle hit the officer, who jumped on board and subdued Brueklander, according to the statement.

Police found methamphetamine on Breuklander when they were booking him, the statement says.

Breuklander was charged with vehicle tampering, drug possession and resisting arrest, all felonies, along with the misdemeanors of fourth-degree assault and trespassing.

He remained in the Boone County Jail on Friday afternoon on a $25,000 bond.
