Boone County man charged with child molestation, statutory sodomy

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man has been charged with three counts of first-degree child molestation and two counts of statutory sodomy after allegedly admitting to law enforcement that he molested a child, according to court documents.

Austin Sumpter, 26, is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail. An initial court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday.

Court documents say a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a sexual assault on Saturday. Sumpter was booked into the jail at 7:46 a.m. Saturday, according to jail records.
