Randolph County Sheriff’s Office finds escaped inmate in woods

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Randolph County Sheriff's office reports that an inmate who escaped custody while at a hospital Saturday morning has been found.

The sheriff's office said that Toby Kindell was taken to the Moberly Regional Center in an ambulance for a report of chest pains. Kindell was allegedly treated and released later in the morning shortly after 7 am. While completing release paperwork, Kindell an out of the hospital.

Corrections Officer, Tasha Pettitt allegedly chased after him but had to call for backup.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office along with the Moberly Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and two workers from the Department of Corrections were able to locate Kindell. The department says he was found in a wooded area about 1/4 mile Northeast of the hospital.

The department noted that there is no threat to the community and Kindell is back in custody.

He was in custody for possession of a controlled substance with a bond of $250,000 cash only.
