Columbia man pleads guilty to murder in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS (KMIZ)
A Columbia man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a 2020 murder in St. Louis.
Jamar Burns, 32, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He was sentenced to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. He will be credited with three years of time served, according to a press release from the 22nd Judicial Circuit in St. Louis. He was at the St. Louis City Justice Center on Wednesday.
He will first serve the remaining four years of a previous federal sentence for illegal gun possession, according to the press release.
According to previous reporting, Burns was initially charged with first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, attempted robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Burns allegedly went to a St. Louis Taco Bell on May 21, 2020, to buy weed from Darion Powell before shooting him, according to previous reporting.
