Windsor man found guilty of first-degree murder in Pettis County

SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Windsor, Missouri, man was found guilty by a Pettis County jury on Thursday for murder and several other felonies.

Mark A. Fielder, 65, was found guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, second-degree assault and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. A sentencing hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Pettis County Courthouse.

Fielder is accused of shooting and killing James Fannon, 41, in February 2022. According to previous reporting, Fielder allegedly shot Fannon in the head near the intersection of East Jackson Street and South County Line Road in Windsor.

Fielder left the scene and the driver drove off with Fannon's body off before dumping the body on the side of the road, according to previous reporting.

Fielder allegedly told police that his son said someone stole from them, Fielder went out to confront them when "it escalated from there," the report states.
