Man arrested after ‘large fight’ reported in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City police arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of multiple felonies after they were called to a "large fight" late Monday night.

Officers were sent to the 1000 block of Buena Vista Street at about 11:30 p.m., with reports of multiple people injured in a fight. Officers found several "females" of unspecified age covered in blood, according to a Jefferson City Police Department news release.

None of the injured women cooperated with police, the release says.

More officers arrived and found a 22-year-old woman suffering from multiple cuts who was inside a residence. She identified a 22-year-old man as her attacker and the man ran from police, according to the release. Officers arrested him after a short foot chase but he denied being responsible for the woman's injuries, police say.

He was jailed on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, resisting arrest and first-degree assault.

Charges had not been filed early Tuesday afternoon.
