A Columbia man has been charged with several felonies after he allegedly shot at another person on Saturday.

Christopher Donnell Monroe, 53, is charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed-criminal action. He is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. An initial court appearance is set for Tuesday at the Boone County Courthouse.

A heavily redacted probable cause statement says a victim saw Monroe standing in the doorway of his residence with a gun and fired about five shots. A victim stated their truck was hit by gunfire on the driver side of the vehicle. Police found five shell casings on the porch of the residence and a magazine fell out of Monroe’s vehicle while it was being searched, according to the probable cause statement.

Monroe allegedly told police that one of the people at the house was yelling outside the door. Monroe stated one person left and he left with another, according to the probable cause statement. He allegedly told police he had a “clip” in the garage that police “had probably found,” the statement says.
