Illinois man charged with kidnapping in Miller County

MGN

LAKE OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Granite City, Illinois, man was charged Wednesday with multiple felonies after allegedly trying to pull a woman into his vehicle in September.

Ryan Gaddy, 47, is charged with second-degree kidnapping and fourth-degree assault. A warrant was issued Thursday and a $100,000 bond was set. He is not in the Miller County Jail, according to online records. A court date has not been set.

On Sept. 16, 2022, law enforcement responded to a parking lot in Lake Ozark for an attempted kidnapping call. The alleged victim told police that a man in a black Hummer with chrome rims approached her, grabbed her arm and tried to force her in the vehicle, according to the probable cause statement.

The victim broke free and ran into a nearby gas station. An employee at the statement attempted to get information from the vehicle as it drove by the gas station again, according to the probable cause statement. The employee told the victim to get in the store as he called 911.

Law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a black Hummer with an Illinois registration and detained three people. Gaddy was identified by the victim, who was visibly in fear, according to the statement. She stated she was followed by a few men from her work.

Gaddy has previous charges for domestic battery in Illinois, according to the probable cause statement. A business allegedly told law enforcement that Gaddy was seen driving around its parking lot the previous four nights. The probable cause statement says those details present the fear of possible human trafficking.
