Two men were arrested and charged Monday after allegedly trying to steal from an ATM machine.

Lemarvin Edmonson, 39, and Daryl Lewis, 27, are charged with attempting to stealing $25,000 or more, second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools. Both men are being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.

An arraignment for Edmonson was held Wednesday. A court date for Lewis has not been set.

Columbia police were dispatched Monday for an ATM alarm at Regions Bank on Paris Road. Police saw two men running away from the back of the ATM. Edmonson allegedly tried to jump a fence but was arrested quickly, according to the probable cause statement. Lewis was found in a bush about 225 feet away about five minutes later.

Edmonson was allegedly wearing gloves and a ski mask, and a battery-powered saw was allegedly found near Lewis. Two pry bars, a hammer and multiple saw blades were found in the ATM, according to the probable cause statement.  The bank told police the ATM contained more than $25,000.

The probable cause statement says the men are from Houston, Texas and have been pulling similar crimes in other parts of the country. Online court records list an unknown Columbia address for both defendants.
