Charges filed for Auxvasse man accused in shooting

AUXVASSE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Charges have been filed for an Auxvasse man who was accused of a Sunday shooting that occurred on East Harrison Street.

Damin Davis, 33, is charged with first-degree assault, armed-criminal action, unlawful gun possession, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree domestic assault.

He is not in custody. A no-bond warrant was issued. Davis is no longer believed to be in Callaway County however he does have ties to Mexico and Columbia, according to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement searched around Callaway County on Sunday and Monday. Law enforcement believes Davis fled from the scene with his 10-year-old son in a black car. The car was found abandoned in the Stephens area around 4:45 p.m., according to the sheriff.

The son was found safe Sunday evening, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office said on its social media that it is seeking additional felony charges against Davis in relation to a different shooting that occurred in June. Davis is no longer believed to be in Callaway County but has ties to Mexico and Columbia, the Sheriff's Office said.

Davis has other felony warrants including a Callaway County no bond Probation Violation warrant regarding a previous third-degree domestic assault charge that was issued on May 24. He pleaded guilty to that charge on March 6 and was sentenced to five years of supervised probation with a four-year suspended sentence.

In another case in Callaway County, Davis is charged with second-degree property damage and second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. A warrant was issued for failure to appear on June 23. A bond forfeiture hearing is set for 9 a.m. Friday.

Davis is also facing felony charges in Boone County. He was charged in May with unlawful gun possession and two counts of third-degree domestic assault. A warrant was issued for failure to appear on June 7. A bond forfeiture hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.
