A man was charged and eventually arrested in Callaway County with first-degree statutory rape and first-degree statutory sodomy with a person younger than 14 years old.

Nicholas Steven Woodward, 42, is being held without bond at the Callaway County Jail. A warrant was requested on May 28 and he was booked Wednesday morning. An initial court appearance is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Callaway County Courthouse.

He is accused of sexually assaulting a child from 2006-08 in Fulton, as well as Iowa, according to the probable cause statement. The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office initially took a report of sexual assault on Nov. 16, 2021, and received statements from Nebraska State Police.

Woodward interviewed with law enforcement on May 19 in Nebraska. He allegedly described one encounter with the victim he claimed he did not initiate, and denied other listed assaults to law enforcement, according to the probable cause statement.
