Man accused in Memorial Day weekend UTV crash booked into jail, released
MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Brumley man was in jail Wednesday morning, facing charges related to a crash in late May.
Carter Halley, 23, of Brumley, was booked Wednesday morning in the Miller County Jail after turning himself in, according to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on his own recognizance, according to Casenet. An arraignment is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the Miller County Courthouse.
Halley was charged Monday with two counts of driving while intoxicated – causing serious physical injury, failure to yield and driving a UTV on a highway.
A probable cause statement filed Monday says Halley and the pregnant woman in the car he hit each suffered serious injuries in the crash. The statement says Halley had "serious head trauma."
Troopers arrested Halley at the scene, according to an online arrest report.
The trooper who filed the statement wrote that Halley smelled like alcohol and that a breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was .137. The legal limit to drive is .08.
