Preliminary hearing for man accused in Hermann police killing moved to August

HERMANN, Mo. (KMIZ)

A preliminary hearing for the man accused of murdering a Hermann police sergeant has been moved to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4.

Kenneth Lee Simpson, 35, of Steelville, Missouri, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of armed-criminal action, first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is being held without bond at the Crawford County Jail.

The preliminary hearing was initially set for Friday. A hearing was held Wednesday and a motion for continuance was granted to Simpson.

Simpson is accused of killing Mason Griffith and injuring Adam Sullentrup by shooting them March 12 at a Casey’s in Hermann.

Police caught Simpson following a more than 12-hour standoff.
