Several people were taken into custody Friday night following a police chase in Jefferson City.

According to a news release from the Jefferson City Police Department, a 21-year-old Jefferson City man, and 35-year-old Columbia were sent to Cole County Jail and are facing different charges.

According to the release, the chase started after an officer attempted to pull over a car for traffic violations. The officer said the car didn’t stop and a chase followed on Edmonds Street. The release stated after about two blocks, two people inside the car got out and ran. According to an officer, the driver of the car ran into the woods while carrying a rifle.
