CALIFORNIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A California, Missouri, man was arrested and charged after allegedly leading deputies on a chase Wednesday where speeds exceeded 100 mph.

Kineth Lowe, 48, is charged with unlawful possession of a gun and resisting arrest by fleeing. He is being held in the Montieau County Jail without bond. An arraignment hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Montieau County Courthouse.

A sheriff’s deputy was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 and clocked a Ram 1500 that was heading west going 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. The deputy allegedly tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop, according to the probable cause statement. It described Lowe, the driver, as wearing a tank top with sun glasses on his head.

Lowe led the deputy on northbound California drive while allegedly driving more than 100 mph in a 45 mph zone. Speeds eventually exceeded 110 mph in a 55 mph zone. The chase went on westbound Highway 50 in heavy traffic – according to the probable cause statement – where speeds allegedly exceed 100 mph in a 65 mph zone.

A California police vehicle ended up getting damaged, with costs around $4,000, according to the statement.

The chase went back to northbound California Drive, and then was going westbound on East Buchanan. The chase kept going through Main Street, where a California police officer allegedly saw Lowe smiling as he passed his location.

Lowe also allegedly drove through a number of stop signs. The probable cause statement claims Lowe almost caused three collisions with other drivers.

A California police officer successfully deployed spike strips on one of Lowe’s tires and sustained an injury to his left hand.

Lowe continued driving, went back to Highway 50 and ended up pulling into his own driveway on Vaughn Drive. He allegedly opened the garage door, pulled into the garage and shut the door.

A deputy asked Lowe’s wife, who was sitting on the front porch, to get Lowe out of the house.

Lowe stepped out of the house and was ordered at gunpoint to get on the ground and he allegedly refused.

“It ain’t me,” Lowe said, according to the probable cause statement.

Lowe was allegedly wearing the same tank top and the same glasses on top of his head. He was eventually detained.

The deputy tested the key fob Lowe had and it worked on the vehicle that was parked in the garage. A gun and ammunition was found in the vehicle. It was learned that he is not allowed to own a gun. Lowe also had multiple outstanding warrants for failure to appear in Cole and Franklin counties.
