COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The trial of a man accused of killing a Central Methodist University football player last summer has moved from Howard County to Cooper County.

The courts in Cooper County received the notice of change of venue on Wednesday, according to online court records. Kundarrius Taylor, initially charged with first-degree murder, is now charged with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon.

Taylor could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Taylor, a former CMU student, is accused of shooting and killing Torrance Evans, a CMU football player, during an argument. Taylor told police he and Evans had not been getting along and that he was defending himself, according to court documents.

Both men are from Memphis, Tennessee.

Taylor's next hearing is set for June 12.
