Jefferson City woman shot in the head in critical condition, boyfriend arrested
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Cole County Sheriff’s Department announced in a press release that a man was arrested after his girlfriend was shot in the head on Tuesday morning.
Around 7:14 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a call in the 100 block of Bourbon Street. A woman was crying on the call to EMS, according to the press release.
Deputies found an 18-year-old Jefferson City woman with a gunshot wound to the head. She was flown to University Hospital and is in critical but stable condition, according to the press release.
The release stated the victim’s boyfriend -- an 18-year-old Jefferson City man -- was contacted at St. Mary’s Hospital where was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested and brought to the Cole County Jail on suspicion of accessory to attempted manslaughter, felon in possession of a gun, armed-criminal action and tampering with physical evidence, according to the release.
He is currently being held at the Cole County Jail on a 24-hour hold, the release stated.
The Sheriff’s Department and the Cole County Prosecutor did not name the man accused.
