Centralia man charged with child enticement

CENTRALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Centralia man is facing multiple child enticement charges after police say he was sending inappropriate messages to minors on a chatroom application.

Tanner Burton, 26, is charged with two counts of child enticement of a child younger than 15 years old. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. An arraignment was held Friday at the Boone County Courthouse.

A woman Burton was in a relationship with went through his phone on Wednesday because she thought he was cheating on her and found explicit messages to children. That person went to the Centralia Police Department.

Officers allegedly found several messages sent to multiple minors that were sexually explicit. Burton allegedly comments on the girls’ bodies and asked if he could send them “dick pics,” according to the probable cause statement.

Burton allegedly told police that he was messaging multiple people on “Y99,” which is a chatroom application. He allegedly told police he believed the people he messaged were minors. Burton allegedly told police that he sent pornographic images to people he believed were juveniles.
