Man charged after allegedly biting court security, says he has HIV
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man faces several charges after he allegedly bit a bailiff at the Boone County Courthouse and said he had HIV in February.
Durell Hairston, 37, is charged with first-degree assault, resisting arrest and first-degree trespassing. He is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail.
An arraignment was held Friday at the Boone County Courthouse. A confined docket hearing will take place 1 p.m. Thursday. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27.
In another case, he’s charged with fourth-degree assault and first-degree trespassing. In other cases, Hairston is also charged with several counts of fourth-degree assault and trespassing.
On Feb. 27, a Hairston was allegedly causing a disturbance at the Family/Civil Clerk’s office. A bailiff told him to keep his voice down and Hairston allegedly refused. He was instructed to leave, but refused, according to the probable cause statement.
The bailiff told Hairston he was under arrest for trespassing and attempted to take him into custody. A fight ensued in the hallway and Hairston allegedly bit him and told him he has HIV, according to the probable cause statement.
