Woman accused, arrested after police find man bleeding in residence

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A woman was arrested Friday evening on accusations of domestic assault, tampering with evidence, endangering the welfare of a child and armed-criminal action, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.

The woman’s name was not released. Police said she is being held at the Cole County Jail.

Around 10:57 p.m. Friday, police were called to the 1100 block of East McCarty Street to look for someone bleeding and knocking on doors in the neighborhood. Responding officers were unable to locate the bleeding subject.

While searching the area, a 911 call was made reporting a disturbance, according to a press release. The caller refused to answer further questions and declined law enforcement assistance. Based on history, officers identified a potential location for the disturbance. Outside of that residence, officers were able to find blood consistent with the original caller’s description.

Officers contacted the female resident and observed signs of a struggle, the press release stated. She declined medical attention and was unwilling to say the location of the other person involved. Officers observed more blood near the doorway. The woman was detained and police found a 28-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

The man was brought to a hospital by ambulance, according to the press release. Officers also found a child in the residence that was unharmed. The inside of the residence appeared in disarray and an attempt to clean the scene had occurred.

The woman allegedly admitted to police a fight happened, but claimed she was defending herself, the press release stated..
