A man was arrested Friday by Cooper County Sheriff’s Office deputies after the office claims he tried to fight a deputy.

Roger Davis, 56, of Roeland Park, Kansas, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Cooper County Jail on a $150,000 bond. A court date has not been set.

A deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle Friday in the 16000 block of Highway 135. The deputy made contact with the vehicle and saw drugs in the car. The deputy tried to detain Davis, but he allegedly resisted, fought back and caused minor injuries to the deputy, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Two other residents stopped and allegedly tried to help the deputy but Davis was able to get back into the vehicle and drive onto Interstate 70, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Another deputy found him and a short chase ensued.

Davis then allegedly got off Interstate 70, left the roadway and drove through several fences before driving his vehicle into a pond in the 16000 block of Highway B. He began to run away but was caught.
