A Columbia man was arrested over the weekend after he was accused of several weapons charges in January.

Devon Hopkins, 36, is charged with shooting a gun at a person, armed-criminal action, unlawful possession of a gun, first-degree assault and first-degree domestic assault. He is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. An arraignment hearing was held Monday.

Columbia police were called to the 2600 block of Quail Drive and found four spent 9 millimeter shell casings in the road near an apartment complex. Security footage in the area showed a woman and another person in an argument with Hopkins prior to shots being fired, according to the probable cause statement.

The two people could be heard yelling “Boom Boom stop! Boom Boom no!” at Hopkins several times, the statement says. The statement indicates that “Boom Boom” is an alias for Hopkins.

The officer says in the statement that Hopkins walked into the roadway where two shell casings were found. The probable cause statement says Hopkins shot in the direction of the two people. The victims ran into their apartment.

Hopkins walked up to an apartment. He and an unidentified woman left with three small children. A neighbor told police that Hopkins has children with the woman he was in an argument with at the beginning of this incident.
