Camden County deputies treating death as homicide

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Camden County sheriff's deputies are investigating a suspicious death after being called to a home south of Camdenton on Thursday.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about an unresponsive man in his home, according to a Camden County Sheriff's Office news release. Deputies and EMTs found the man dead on the floor. They later identified him as Thomas Gifford, 62.

Detectives "discovered evidence of a suspicious death," according to the release. The death is being treated as a homicide, the sheriff's office said.

Detectives spoke to the person who called dispatchers. The caller said they had not heard from Gifford in several days.

The sheriff's office didn't release any other details, such as how Gifford died.
