JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man was arrested and charged Saturday after he was accused of assaulting a woman he had allegedly been in a relationship with.

Kelly Harrison, 35, is charged with first-degree assault, two counts of armed-criminal action, second-degree kidnapping, second-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bond, according to Casenet.

An arraignment hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Jefferson City Police Department was called to an apartment complex for a wellness check Saturday morning. When an officer knocked on the door, the alleged victim ran out of the door while crying and said Harrison was inside with a weapon, according to the probable cause statement.

The woman said Harrison held a pair of scissors to her neck and threatened to kill her when police knocked on the door. She allegedly told police she was in a relationship with Harrison for the past year. She also told police that Harrison had been assaulting her for five days, according to the probable cause statement.

Police said in the probable cause statement that the victim had bruising on her left arm and hand. She allegedly told police that she did not feel like she was able to leave the apartment because her life had been threatened several times.

The victim was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City and it was determined that she had a fracture on the thumb of her left hand, according to the probable cause statement.

At the Jefferson City Police Department, Harrison allegedly told police he had been drinking with the victim a lot for the past few weeks and that they had been arguing frequently. He allegedly said – according to the statement – that it was possible he waived the scissors in front of the victim but that he only put the scissors to his own neck.

He also claimed the victim had bruising from falling off a couch and stated “I didn’t do it” and then quickly changing to, “I guess I did,” according to the probable cause statement.
