Columbia man pleads guilty in deadly DWI crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man pleaded guilty Monday to two felony charges in connection with a deadly November 2021 DWI crash.

Duncan J. McCracking waived his preliminary hearing and arraignment and pleaded guilty to DWI causing a death and DWI with physical injury, according to court records. Sentencing is scheduled for March 13.

McCracking was accused of crashing into the vehicle of Ashley Footer, 19, of Kansas City, near the intersection of Providence Road and Route K just south of Columbia.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, McCracking drove through a red light and crashed into Footer's vehicle. Troopers arrested McCracking at the scene.

According to court records, McCracking smelled strongly of intoxicants, he was stumbling, swaying, he had bloodshot eyes, was lethargic and had slurred speech.

He posted a $175,000 bond last November.
