Three people charged in relation to Moniteau County theft
MONITEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Three people are facing charges in relation to a reported theft in Moniteau County from last week.
Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a possible theft on Nov. 1. According to a press release, a landowner and neighbors saw two vehicles on a property on Hays Road just outside of Tipton.
Deputies and the Tipton Police Department located a black SUV parked near the wood line to the south of the residence and a white van parked near the wood line on the north side of the property. The two men ran away.
While searching for the men, deputies made contact with a vehicle that had been driving on gravel roads in the area. Kaitlyn Henry -- who is allegedly a known acquaintance of one of the suspects – was driving that vehicle and was taken into custody.
Deputies then spoke with the landowner and obtained game camera pictures of the two men who were on the property.
Upon checking the vehicle registrations and Department of Revenue identifications photos it was determined one of the men was Andrew Peoples, 36, of Tipton, and the other suspect was identified as Daniel Brown, 42, of Jefferson City.
Peoples had walked up to a house in the area to ask for a ride to Tipton. Deputies and the Tipton Police Department then went to the area, found him in the passenger seat of a vehicle and arrested him.
On Nov. 4, deputies were in contact with Brown’s probation officer. Brown was arrested when he reported to the Probation and Parole Office in Jefferson City. He’s on parole for receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.
Peoples was on parole for possession of a controlled substance, assault and tampering physical evidence.
Peoples is being held on a $100,000 bond and is charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. Brown was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. No bond was set for Brown, according to the release.
Henry, 30, of Tipton, was held on a $1,000 bond and charged with hindering the prosecution of a felony.
Arraignment hearings for all three were held on Monday. A bond hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14.
