A Columbia woman was charged Friday with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action for allegedly pointing a gun at a building with children inside.

Patrice Whitaker, 34, is accused of brandishing a handgun Wednesday and pointing it at a Columbia residence that had approximately seven children in the building, according to a probable cause statement.

Police said Whitaker did not care about anyone inside the building and threatened to kill everyone.

An initial arraignment hearing was held Monday. She appeared in court via video. No bond was set.

Whitaker remained in the Boone County Jail on Monday.
