Boone County prosecutors charged a man with murder Thursday in connection with a February methamphetamine overdose.

Sean D. Rogers, 40, is charged with second-degree murder and two counts of drug distribution. Rogers was in the Boone County Jail on Thursday without bond.

Rogers was charged in a Jan. 8 overdose death in the 3700 block of Monterrey Drive in south Columbia. Police were called to a residence where they found a man dead and a bag with methamphetamine, according to a probable cause statement. A witness told investigators that the dead man had used the drug before he died and that Rogers had sold them the drug.

Messages between the dead man and Rogers corroborated the woman's story, police say.

A medical examiner ruled that the man died from an accidental overdose, according to the statement.

Police found suspected methamphetamine when they arrested Rogers on Wednesday, according to the statement.
