COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Miller County prosecutor charged a Brumley man Friday with possession of child pornography after an investigation that started in July.

Richard Thurman, 74, was charged with one count of child pornography possession. He was arrested Thursday and jailed on a $500,000 bond.

The investigation began with a mid-July tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to a Miller County Sheriff's Office news release. Detectives seized several computers with hundreds of photos of child pornography and exploitation, according to the release.

Thurman remained in jail Friday. No court hearing was listed in online court records and he did not have a defense attorney.
