BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Centralia woman was arrested on suspicion of DWI, resisting arrest and careless driving after her vehicle hit a deputy's cruiser Wednesday night on Highway 63.

Deputies got multiple reports at about 10 p.m. of a wrong-way driver on northbound Highway 63 near Pinnacles Road, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Office news release. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle but the driver wouldn't pull over, the release says. The deputy then put his cruiser in the path of the other vehicle to keep it from hitting other cars, according to the sheriff's department. He was able to avoid a head-on collision but the two vehicles did crash, the department says.

The deputy was unhurt.

The driver, Rebecca N. Acton, 33, was taken into custody at the scene. She was treated at University Hospital and later released, according to a spokesman.

Charges against her had not been filed Friday afternoon and she was not in the Boone County Jail.

The crash caused the temporary closure of the northbound passing lane.
