Man arrested in Pulaski County after allegedly dousing a woman in gasoline
WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department arrested a man after crews originally responded to reports of a fire.
Jeramiah Schiedel now faces charges of first-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest, according to the department. Schiedel is currently on probation for second-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a firearm.
The department says that while en route to the scene, in the 18000 block of Laddie Lane, first responders learned further information regarding a possible disturbance at the scene between two parties. A woman reported that Schiedel had allegedly doused her with gasoline, attempting to light her on fire.
The woman was able to escape the residence without injury and told authorities that a fire had been started in the kitchen but was no longer burning to her knowledge, the sheriff's department said. She claimed Schiedel had a gun and threatened to harm himself and others.
Deputies secured the area and attempted to negotiate with Schiedel, who was barricaded inside the residence, but were unable to get him to comply despite numerous attempts, the sheriff's department said.
Deputies found him sitting on the couch with his hands hidden when they went inside, according to the release. Deputies used a stun gun and handcuffed Schiedel with no further incident, the sheriff's department said.
Schiedel's bond is set at $200,000.
