Two charged in Cooper County for exposing children to drugs
COOPER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Cooper County prosecutor has charged two people with multiple drug charges after the execution of a search warrant on Monday.
Amber Roth and James Pipes are both charged with Possession of a controlled substance, three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, keeping or maintaining a public nuisance and manufacture of a controlled substance. Roth is also charged with forgery.
On Monday, members of the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office and East Central Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a residence in the 12000 block of Hwy 5 after reports of a child being exposed to narcotics.
During the investigation, drugs, drug paraphernalia, guns, and items used in the manufacture of meth were seized at the residence.
Roth and Pipes live in the residence with three children aged 5, 8 and 3. The duo also lives with another person.
Deputies also found that the residence where the children were residing was found to be in extremely poor condition with the children being exposed to not only narcotics but bug infestation.
Police report finding loose trash and rotten food on the floor throughout the residence.
The children inside the residence were removed and taken to the hospital for examination.
Roth and Pipes are in the Cooper County Jail being held on a $75,000 cash or surety bond. Both Pipes and Roth do not have a defense attorney listed according to online court records.
