One man taken into custody after attempting to strike cars, assaulting an officer

PULASKI, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department said one person was taken into custody, after the department received reports of a man attempting to strike vehicles with a shovel Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriffs approached the man on Hickory Lane, after one caller had advised he hit their vehicle with a shovel.

Once approached and given instructions, the man ignored and instead continued to walk towards the deputy.

A struggle ensued after the man came after the deputy, pepper spray and a taser were both used however the man continued to reach for a tool previously in his hands. Additional deputies arrived, ultimately handcuffing the individual.

It was determined the man in custody had a hammer, pickaxe and shovel with him. The man was transported to the Pulaski County Jail, before being transported again to receive medical attention.

One deputy was injured in the incident, however the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department said she was evaluated by medical professionals and is expected to return to duty immediately.

Charges have not yet been filed.
