Juvenile taken into custody after stolen vehicle investigation in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City juvenile was taken into custody on Saturday after police began investigating reports of stolen items from vehicles.

Jefferson City police report that in the past week there were five incidents of guns stolen from vehicles, 10 incidents of other thefts from vehicles and seven-vehicle thefts.

During the investigation on Saturday overnight, police saw a vehicle speed away on the 1300 block of Dixon Drive. Police report finding the vehicle crashed and abandoned. During the investigation into the vehicle, it was determined the vehicle was stolen from the 900 block of Winston Drive.

Police reported finding the juvenile when they saturated the area with police.
