Columbia man sentenced for New Year’s Day shooting that left four people hurt

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County judge has sentenced a Columbia man for a New Year's Day shooting in Downtown Columbia.

D'Anglo Harris, 25, reached a plea deal with prosecutors on Monday, according to public court records. The judge sentenced Harris to seven years in prison for second-degree assault, seven years in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm and two years in prison for unlawful use of a weapon.

Harris would serve up to 16 years in prison if he doesn't qualify for a shock incarceration program. The Missouri Department of Corrections will determine if Harris is eligible for a 120-day shock program.

The Boone County Prosecutor's Office had previously charged Harris with four counts of first-degree assault, one count of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of armed criminal action.

Harris was involved in an argument around 1 a.m. Jan. 1 near Silverball, according to court documents. Police said four men suffered gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening.
