Ulman man taken into custody after nine hour standoff

ULMAN, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Ulman resident was arrested after an over nine-hour standoff in Miller County after law enforcement responded to a domestic disturbance.

Thomas Patterson, 53, was charged with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Miller County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the disturbance just after 7:45 a.m. at a residence on Bluebell lane.

The victim told investigators that Patterson showed up at the residence on Sunday morning and threatened her with a gun, poking her in the face with the pistol barrel and threatening to kill her. The victim said she got away from Patterson after he passed out but pulled her away as she tried to escape. The victim then told investigators that Patterson broke her phone before she could call law enforcement.

Deputies contacted Patterson at the residence and he refused to exit the residence and barricaded himself inside the home.

Atter Patterson refused orders to leave the residence, the Missouri State Highway Patrol SWAT team was called in to assist.

After more unsuccessful attempts to negotiate, the SWAT team deployed on the residence and at 5 p.m. the suspect was taken into custody.

Patterson is currently held at the Miller County Jail with a $125,000 bond.
