A Jefferson City woman indicted for arson in federal court last year has pleaded guilty.

Iasha Cannady pleaded guilty in federal court in Jefferson City last week to two counts of malicious use of explosive materials and one count of possession of an unregistered destructive device. A federal grand jury indicted Cannady in August 2020 after she allegedly used what appeared to be Molotov cocktails at two Jefferson City homes on Lafayette and East Water streets on June 27, 2020.

Police said they believe the fires were set as retaliation after Cannady's daughter was in a fight.

The fight took place at a carnival outside the Capital Mall in Jefferson City and led to shots being fired to break it up, police reported. Police took two 16-year-olds into custody and cited a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old in connection with the fight.

A sentencing hearing has not been scheduled. A sentencing report is due next week, according to court documents.
