A federal jury convicted a Columbia felon of illegally possessing a firearm after 30 minutes of deliberation.
Columbia police arrested Jeremiah Ezekiel Brown, 36, in Nov. 2020 after a traffic stop. An officer found a loaded Glock 9 mm semi-automatic handgun in Brown’s waistband during the traffic stop.
Detectives searching the vehicle also found multiple drugs, an empty Glock extended magazine with a 31-round capacity and a pair of brass knuckles.
Brown’s prior felony convictions include possession of stolen things, possession of a controlled substance, robbery, receiving stolen property and attempted delivery of a controlled substance into prison.
Under federal law, Brown could serve up to 10 years in federal prison without parole. A sentencing hearing is scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
