An Indiana man admitted to his role in a Jefferson City robbery Tuesday in federal court.

Daijahn A. Reed, 22, of Indianapolis, pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery and a count of brandishing a gun during a violent crime, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney's office for the Western District of Missouri.

Reid's trial was set to begin next week. He is the third person to plead guilty in association with the July 2018 robbery at Walgreens, 2002 Missouri Blvd. Jerome S. King, 22, of Speedway, Indiana, and Raymond A. Craig, 23, of Indianapolis have been sentenced to prison in connection with the robbery, according to the release.

The release says the men know of a fourth person involved in the robbery but have not identified that person.

Police showed up during the robbery and the robbers left in a vehicle, throwing out 4,000 pills of controlled substances worth more than $9,000 during the chase, according to the U.S. attorney's office. The chase continued into Holts Summit before the getaway vehicle crashed, according to the release. Officers found a gun stolen from Indiana afterward, authorities say.

Reed didn't make it to the getaway car and knocked on a witness' door, authorities say. He talked to the witness for hours and admitted to the robbery, according to the release. Police later found Reed on the roof of the O'Reilly Auto Parts store on Missouri Boulevard.

The U.S. attorney says Reed was one of two armed people who threatened a pharmacist and stole the drugs after the other two men surveilled the scene. He could be sentenced to up to life in prison without parole. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after a pre-sentence investigation.
