The City of Lake Ozark has canceled its monthly Bike Night promotion for the rest of the year after what police are calling a shootout between motorcycle clubs that killed one and injured four others last week.

Police Chief Gary Launderville announced the cancelation in a meeting with business owners, according to a city news release. Bike Night is a business promotion targeting motorcycle enthusiasts that takes place on the third Thursday of every month. The deadly shooting took place on Bike Night.

Two men have been charged so far in the shooting. Tonka Way-Con Ponder was charged last week with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Court documents say Ponder shot a man who died at the scene outside the Casablanca Pub and Grill on the Bagnell Dam Strip. Authorities have not identified the man who died, referring to him in court documents only as B.C.

An Iberia man, Daniel S. Kurtzeborn, has been charged with illegal gun possession.

Court documents in Kurtzeborn's case say the shootout began with a confrontation among three motorcycle clubs -- Galloping Gooses, Midwest Drifters and Mongols.

Launderville was critical of motorcycle clubs in the meeting with businesses, telling businesses it is up to them to control their clientele, according to the city's news release. About 40 business managers and owners were at the meeting, the release says.

Miller County prosecutor Ben Winfrey added serious physical injury to the first-degree assault charge against Ponder on Monday -- a more severe felony. Ponder's bond was reduced from $100,000 to $50,000, as well.
