Documents: Lake of the Ozarks shooting part of confrontation involving three motorcycle clubs
TUSCUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Investigators claim in court documents that the deadly shooting last week at the Lake of the Ozarks started with a confrontation involving three motorcycle clubs.
Miller County prosecutor Ben Winfrey on Friday charged Daniel S. Kurtzeborn of Iberia with a single count of illegal gun possession in connection with the deadly shooting last week outside Casablanca Pub and Grill on the Bagnell Dam Strip. Bond was set at $25,000.
A probable cause statement says Kurtzeborn can be seen exchanging gunfire with other people during the shootout on surveillance video. Winfrey last week charged Tonka Way-Con Ponder of Preston, Missouri, with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in the shooting that killed one and injured four others.
Authorities have not identified the man who died, referring to him in court documents only as B.C.
The statement filed in Kurtzeborn's case says members of the Galloping Gooses and Midwest Drifters motorcycle clubs could be seen on video outside the restaurant the night of the shooting. Six members of the Mongols Motorcycle Club then came out of the restaurant and a fight ensued, according to investigators.
Video shows members of the Galloping Gooses and the Mongols exchanging gunfire, the statement says, leading others to exchange shots. The statement says Kurtzeborn can't have a gun because of his criminal history.
No attorney was listed for Kurtzeborn in online court records. It wasn't clear whether he was in custody Monday.
