One arrested after Jefferson City officers pull over stolen vehicle
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Jefferson City police arrested a man Monday after finding a stolen vehicle as it pulled into a gas station parking lot.
An officer spotted the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Saline County, late Monday morning, according to a Jefferson City Police Department news release. The vehicle pulled into the Break Time convenience store at 1940 W. Main St. and stopped at a gas pump and the officer followed.
Police arrested the driver, Justin Atterberry, who had a handgun inside the vehicle, the release said. Atterberry admitted to not initially following the officer's commands to show both of his hands because he was thinking about grabbing the gun, police said.
Atterberry was arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle tampering, stealing and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Information on charges was not available in online court records.
Atterberry was being held Tuesday at the Cole County Jail.
