Jefferson City man charged with several felonies after allegedly confronting police with gun

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Prosecutors charged a Jefferson City man with four felonies and three misdemeanors after police said he confronted officers with a gun outside a home Tuesday.

Nicholas J. Bliesath, 36, was charged Wednesday with unlawful use of a weapon, illegal gun possession, harassment, resisting arrest, domestic assault, disturbing the peace and misusing 911, according to online court documents.

Bliesath called 911 on Tuesday afternoon demanding that police come to his home, the Jefferson City Police Department said in a news release. Police say Bliesath was on drugs and alcohol and called a second time to ask if officers would respond more quickly if he "popped off a round."

Officers met Bliesath in the yard of his home and family members told police he had a gun and they were worried about his behavior, according to the release. Bliesath didn't listen to officers' commands and pulled out a handgun from behind his back, police said.

Officers used a stun gun to subdue Bliesath and arrested him, according to the release. He was in the Cole County Jail without bond Wednesday.

A family member said Bliesath told her that he planned to kill everyone at the residence, according to a probable cause statement. She told police that he had taken LSD and cocaine earlier in the day, the statement says.
