COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A truck driver told police three people assaulted him as he sat in his tractor-trailer early Sunday in southeast Columbia.

Officers were called at about 4:15 a.m. to the 3400 block of Grindstone Parkway for an assault with a weapon, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. The truck driver told police that three men approached his parked tractor-trailer and one of them knocked on the window. The driver said the men assaulted him when he got out.

The truck driver had injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Police said no description of the attackers or their vehicle was available. CPD did not say whether a weapon was actually involved.

    This “news” leaves out an important detail from the Police Press Release. Can you find it?
    “The victim reported that he was approached by three Black males while he was inside his parked tractor-trailer in a parking lot. He reported that after one of the Black males knocked on the window, he exited his vehicle, which is when the assault occurred.”

    This missing detail reduces the suspect population from about 50% of Columbia residents down to about 3%.
