Truck driver reports assault in Columbia parking lot

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A truck driver told police three people assaulted him as he sat in his tractor-trailer early Sunday in southeast Columbia.

Officers were called at about 4:15 a.m. to the 3400 block of Grindstone Parkway for an assault with a weapon, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. The truck driver told police that three men approached his parked tractor-trailer and one of them knocked on the window. The driver said the men assaulted him when he got out.

The truck driver had injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Police said no description of the attackers or their vehicle was available. CPD did not say whether a weapon was actually involved.
